Meet with a CDC Counselor

Career Counselors are available to students and alumni to provide one-on-one assistance. Counselors offer guidance with various aspects of the career development process, from internship decisions to figuring out your future career path.

Walk-Ins: You do not need an appointment to see a counselor during a walk-in session. Walk-ins are held at the CDC Monday - Thursday: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and are typically limited to 15-minute sessions.

Appointments: If the walk-in times are not convenient, or if a more lengthy session is required, you may set up an individual appointment with a counselor. You can schedule an appointment with a counselor by visiting the office or calling 289-8547.

Self-Assessment
The CDC offers a number of different self-assessment tools to assist you in exploring career options but also to better understand what skills, values and characteristics you possess and how they match to different careers. Assessments include the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Strong Interest Inventory.  Meet with a counselor for more information.

Making the most of your visit: We want to see you! The counselors are here to help them discuss options and although no preparation is required, you might be interested in the following:

  • Brainstorm about what it is you want to discuss and write your ideas down on a piece of paper. Even this small task will better help the counselors understand what you're thinking, looking for, etc.
  • Review the website prior to your appointment to see what supporting resources are available online.
  • Keep an open mind of how to be helped
  • Think about this particular visit. What do you hope to accomplish during your visit? One suggestion is to think about the big and small questions you want to discuss.

CDC Staff Profiles: Who are these people, anyway?
